a public, social aid organization, founded in 1947 in New York by Ukrainian immigrants newly arrived in the USA. Currently, it has more than two dozen branches in different cities of the USA, including a branch in New York.

Ukrainian Cultural Engagement

AAU supports its community, and its members’ desires and needs are the most important to us. Thus, throughout its existence, we remain committed to the idea of meeting the needs of our members and taking care of them.

The New York branch of the AAU Selfreliance disseminates Ukrainian culture in America and organizes educational events.  The "Seniors Club," operates as part of the Association where friendly gatherings take place every Thursday, where you can chat with friends over coffee and light snacks. Also the discussion club “Dialogue“ meets twice a month.

Ukrainian Cultural Engagement

UWC supports its community, and their desires and needs are important to us above all. Thus, throughout its existence, we remain committed to the idea of satisfying the needs of our members and showing care for them.

The UWC "Samopomich" Department in New York pays attention to the dissemination of Ukrainian culture in America and organizes educational events. Within the association, there is a "Seniors Club," where friendly gatherings take place every Thursday, with chats among friends over coffee and snacks. Additionally, on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, the "Dialogue" discussion club holds meetings.

The work AAU of “Selfreliance” in New York is planned and coordinated by the elected Board, consisting of the President, his/her deputy Secretary, members in charge of organizational matters financial issues, social welfare, community care, culture and education, publications and communication, organization of educational, cultural, and support events and two members at large

The organs of the Branch also includes Controllers Commission, the Mediation Board and the administrator of the School of Ukrainian Studies.
